Did You Know? Your Rising 4th Grader Can Get a FREE National Park Pass

If your child is heading into 4th grade this fall, there's an incredible travel perk many families don't know about: a free National Parks pass that can unlock adventures across the United States for an entire year.

Through the Every Kid Outdoors program, all U.S. fourth graders are eligible for a complimentary pass that provides free access to thousands of federal lands and waters, including many of America's most iconic national parks.

For families who love road trips, hiking, wildlife spotting, or simply exploring new places together, this is one of the best travel deals available—and it's completely free.

What Is the Every Kid Outdoors Pass?

The Every Kid Outdoors program was created to encourage children and their families to experience America's public lands and historic sites. The pass grants free entry to more than 2,000 federally managed recreation areas, including many National Park Service sites.

The pass is valid from September through the following August, covering the entire fourth-grade school year and the following summer.

Who Qualifies?

The pass is available to:

  • All U.S. fourth-grade students

  • Homeschool students who are 10 years old

  • Free-choice learners who meet the age requirement

Parents, guardians, and educators can help students obtain the pass.

What Does the Pass Cover?

At parks that charge a vehicle entrance fee, the pass covers everyone traveling in a private, non-commercial vehicle.

At sites that charge per person, the pass covers the fourth grader and up to three accompanying adults. Children under 16 are admitted free at most participating locations.

Keep in mind that the pass generally does not cover camping fees, special tours, boat launches, permits, or other expanded amenity fees.

How to Get Your Free Pass

Getting the pass takes just a few minutes:

  1. Visit the Every Kid Outdoors website.

  2. Complete the short online activity.

  3. Download and print your pass.

  4. Bring the printed pass with you when visiting participating federal recreation sites.

Electronic copies are not accepted, so be sure to print the pass before your trip.

Why We Love This Program

At Avandra, we're always looking for ways to help families create meaningful adventures without breaking the budget. The Every Kid Outdoors pass is a fantastic excuse to finally visit that national park you've been talking about, take a spontaneous weekend road trip, or introduce your children to America's incredible natural and historic treasures.

Whether it's watching Old Faithful erupt, hiking through the red rocks of Utah, spotting wildlife in the Rockies, or exploring a historic battlefield, these experiences often become the memories kids carry with them for a lifetime.

If you have a child entering 4th grade this year, don't miss out on this free opportunity to explore more together.

Happy travels!
